Why fairing matters
Fairing is what turns a rough, uneven hull into a smooth, true surface ready for primer and topcoat. Get it right and everything after looks better.
Preparing the surface
Sand back to a clean, sound substrate, remove all dust and contaminants, and make sure the surface is dry.
Mixing Awlfair LW
Awlfair LW is a two-part lightweight epoxy fairing compound. Mix the base and converter to the correct ratio until the colour is uniform.
Applying the compound
Trowel on in firm, even strokes, pressing into low spots. Build up in layers rather than one thick coat.
Sanding fair
Once cured, sand with progressively finer abrasives using a long board to keep the surface true.
